Summary

X is a decent film that pays homage to the iconic slasher genre, which has long been a favorite among horror enthusiasts. As someone who enjoys watching slasher films occasionally, I have a soft spot for classics like Nightmare on Elm Street and My Bloody Valentine. However, where X falls short compared to these others is its reliance on a familiar formula without adding any genuine uniqueness. The characters in the film often discuss an elusive "X factor," supposedly making Mia Goth's character special and exceptional. Regrettably, the film fails to deliver on this promise. Nonetheless, the acting is commendable, especially Mia Goth's underrated performance, along with Brittany Snow, Martin Henderson, and even Kid Cudi, who impressively contribute to the movie. The cinematography is exceptional, effectively setting the atmosphere and tone. The music adds to the tension, though the pacing can be a bit slow at times, offering a different perspective on the story.
