    Summary

Bruce Davison delivers a memorable performance as the title character in this captivating animal-themed thriller that achieved great success in its time. Willard Stiles, portrayed as a timid and socially awkward man, endures constant berating from his demanding boss Martin (played by Ernest Borgnine) and suffocatingly overbearing mother Henrietta (played by Elsa Lanchester). Isolated and friendless, Willard's life takes an unexpected turn when he takes pity on the multitude of rats infesting his property. He even bestows names upon the two most dominant rats, "Socrates," a gentle white rat, and "Ben," a more assertive brown rat. As Willard gains control over the rats, he harnesses their power for acts of revenge.
