    Summary

Being an avid horror film enthusiast, I must admit that haunted house movies have become quite commonplace, losing their allure over time. Nevertheless, I believe in giving fresh material a fair chance, and that's precisely what I did with this film. To my contentment, it skillfully constructs an eerie atmosphere, maintains tension, and weaves a captivating mystery, even if it lacks the ability to induce fear. While it may not excel as a pure horror film, it redeems itself with a competent cast and a palpable sense of tension. The inclusion of witchcraft and voodoo themes, set in the backdrop of New Orleans, adds depth to the storyline, holding everything together cohesively. Unfortunately, the character Caroline feels underdeveloped and poorly presented to the audience, making her more of a figure than a relatable and engaging persona. Nonetheless, the film remains functional, delivering what it promises, despite falling short in generating genuine scares or delving beyond occasional chills and suspense.
