Summary
Before the release of Cabin Fever, there was a lot of buzz in the horror world, claiming it to be one of the most gruesome, bloodiest, scariest, funniest, and craziest horror movies ever. Naturally, when it finally hit theaters, expectations were soaring, including mine. However, the movie left me somewhat disappointed due to all the hype. Even Peter Jackson, the director of Lord of the Rings, praised it as one of the best horror movies he had ever seen in the trailer. Perhaps if I had gone in with more moderate expectations, I might have enjoyed it for what it truly was. As time went on, my opinion started to shift. Watching Cabin Fever on cable allowed me to appreciate it more, and with each viewing, my love for the film grew. Sure, the movie has its funny moments, but I wouldn't label it the funniest ever. It does have its scary moments, but it's not the scariest. And while it is undoubtedly bloody, it's not the bloodiest either. Nevertheless, I've come to enjoy the movie for its own merits, recognizing its potential to become a horror movie classic. It's not uncommon for films that were initially disliked to find a devoted fanbase years later, and I believe Cabin Fever could fall into that category.
