Summary
The nursing home horror premise initially intrigued me, and the film wasted no time in delving into it. However, given its limited 80-minute runtime, the lack of substantial horror elements wasn't entirely surprising. While a few eerie moments and the revelation of the creature at the end provided some chills, the movie fell short in delivering a truly terrifying experience. Nonetheless, I must commend the impressive cosmetic effects and overall creature design, even though it didn't evoke genuine fear. The story did have a few unexpected twists, which added some intrigue, but none were powerful enough to leave a lasting impact. Unfortunately, the climax turned out to be anticlimactic, mainly due to an overly lengthy dialogue scene and a bizarre ending that felt more like a bad joke. It was apparent that the rushed execution further compounded the disappointment. On a positive note, the acting was generally decent to good, with special recognition going to Barbara Hershey for her portrayal of a character unafraid to speak her mind, setting her apart from the typical female protagonists in horror films. Personally, I found the build-up and character development in the first half of the movie more enjoyable than the lackluster second half. It's a shame that the film didn't fully capitalize on its potential, leaving much to be desired.
